9/19/2018 Monk Seal Dailies: (part 1 )

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Lesley and some good news from NOAA.
Lesley included two days of updates and both can be found on part two of the dailies.

I'll start with the good news, NOAA team went to Rabbit Island and FINALLY tagged PO6! Poor kid was without her bling for way to long. PO6 is a female (yay another girl), she has a natural bleach mark on her left posterior and her tag numbers are RK37/ left flipper K31 right. This tag number is out of sequence which is unusual, but she is an unusual little girl.  We had a good feeling PO6 was a female but could not be sure!
Along with RK37, RJ06 Aka, RG32 and RN04 Kainoa.
RG32 is newly molted, and Aka is currently molted.

Team Billand arrived at the outfall at 6 am and found Kaale in the outfall but then left to go by the jetty to forage.  Then they spot another seal and it's Aukai RL12 looking quite pretty. They both foraged together until, multiple seals were seen. There was some commotion and a fight and now Aukai was with Kalani RN14.
LATER in the afternoon Kaale landed alone at a beach close by. This critter is bordering obese, really green with tag showing. MAYBE when he molts he'll lose some weight.
Aukai is very popular these days, they boys can't out of each others way to get to her. First she was with Kaale and then with RN14.

On a west side beach they found RIP on the lower rocks alone with his tags visible. He was still there in the afternoon.

At a different beach on the west side they found Pohaku RO28 alone. And she has begun her molt just starting on her fore flipper and belly.

Meet RK37/K31 pup #6 on Oahu got HER bling today!
