9/20/2018 Monk Seal Dailies: RK72, U/U, RO28, RH32, RN14, RR70, RW02 and RW22

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Marilyn, and Lesley. Lesley was joined by Team T&D and provided a complete update; part two of the dailies.

Team Billand headed out to Ka'ale's Kitchen early this morning. I guess the word is out that there are good eats, because on again they had multiple seals in the area. Initially there were two but they were in and out of the outfall so fast getting an ID was difficult. Seems today was more about chasing each other around than any foraging. Finally Team Billand was able to ID Kekoa Alii RK72, by his facial scar on right cheek and a faint bleach number.  That was all they able to get for ID's so they reported Kekoa and a U/U.

Team Billand found the beautiful Miss Pohaku at a Leeward Beach. When they arrived volunteer Karen was on site putting up signs and talking with surfers. Pohaku was alert and resting at the waters edge. Her molt has begun on her chest area, and belly. Then there was a pesky crab bothering her, and trying to steal a piece of her molt (doesn't he know thats illegal? ) She snorted at him a couple of times looking right at it.
Team Billand stayed for a bit, got a good look at her molt. When Phaky got wet she turned around and went further up the shore.  Right after they walked away a man came by and went right through the zone area. They kept going, not wanting to cause any problems.

Team Billand went back to where they had started early morning and were happy to find the bosom buddies together hauled out in a water hole. Ka'ale was moving up and Kalani RN14 right behind him. Both of them are REALLY green but Ka'ale is the fat one.  Good to see the boyz back together and Team Billand is almost positive they were part of the multiple critters at the outfall.

Team Billand headed out to Ka'ena West and found RIP RR70 at the 20. He was sleeping alone in a waterhole. His tags were visible and was resting peacefully.
They were also lucky enough to find Pv Kauai RW02 at the 30.

On Marilyn's way home from work today she stopped at the Blowhole and saw a seal at Sandys. A quick visit to the beach showed that the seal was RW22 Kolohe. He was ID'd by the natural bleach behind his RFF, male belly and chipped W2 tag. He is looking pretty green.
