Lesley went out to the Point this afternoon, weather was nice but the temperature was dropping and the wind was cold on the way back. Many of the adult albatross were back and around the nests with the chicks. Lesley was able to see a feeding.
At the point on his 5th day RW02 PvKauai was hauled out on the reef island of the main pool. She observed him from all angles and he is looking fine. Some hikers told here they saw a big seal half way in from the Waianae side.
Gayle spotted three critters on Rabbit Island. Gayle also noted the sootys are on the island, they have landed. As more will land, the seals will get sick of hearing them, but not Gayle she likes listening to them at night.
Team Billand arrived at Plains this morning at 6:15, where the ropes and signs were out. Looks like Buster V08 had spent the night. He began scratching, wiggling around, as he was about to take off. Sure enough at 6:45 entered the water, hung around in the shallows, then disappeared. They took down all the ropes and signs and put them back the lifeguard.
Next stop to a westside beach where they found Benny RE74 was on shore, Lifeguard was bring signs and that is when they noticed a volunteer talking to some of the kids. Team Billand was able to help out with the ID and noted he had been there for some time since he was completely dry. The kids said he was there at 6:00 am ( guess these youngens are up and out early, it's spring break).
At a different westside beach Team Billand found Ka'ena RO40 alone and appeared as though he just hauled in all wet. His big cookie scar on his back, spot on his head made his ID visible. They didn't stay to prevent anyone from bothering him.
