3/25/2018 Monk Seal Dailies (part 3) Lesley's Ka'ena Point Update

What a beautiful day today, hope everyone was able to enjoy some outdoor.
Here at Ka'ena wild life was everywhere you looked. Whales breaching, Albatross flying around, Albatross chicks drying out in the sun, Shearwaters in their burrows, lots of hikers and bikers and NO cars. Gate had to closed yesterday due to the previous night rain.
At Hidden Beach, RW02 "PVKauai" was hauled out in a deep sleep, trails say he may have overnighted. He was still there on my way back.
Out at the Point RO40 "Ka'ena" was on the Runway. I went and sit on the rocks at Back Beach and after a while a seal came swimming in his N14 bleach gave is ID RN14 "Molokai".
The adventure started he did a swim by on Back Beach, then into Main Pool for 10 minutes barking non stop (I kept looking around for another seal), he left thru the channel and made it to RO40 "Ka'ena" at the Runway. They started a splashing barking slapping session. Moved towards Ka'ena's Pool. RN14 "Molokai" made it up the step into the pool with a bite on the butt from Ka'ena. He swam around checking every corner. "Ka'ena" turned around and went back to the Runway.
When I left they were settle down apart.
On my way back I stopped and spent an hour cutting a spaghetti of nets. Managed to get 1/4 of it out and to the dumpsters. Tomorrow I'll try to get more.
