Team Billand arrived at Plains early this morning and to the right they found a seal in a zone, but without ropes. It was Buster RV08, As described by Barbara he was full of poop, took a long pee and barely moved. ( haaa must have been a rough night) . They talked to the cabin ladies who came running over and told them he had arrived yesterday about 5:30 pm. Team Billand gave them the monk seal 101 with an added Buster Bio. They called the hotline to let them know of his location. They checked in later and found out Buster departed at 12:30.
Next stop was a Leeward Beach where they found Kekoa RK72 and an unidentified male. Kekoa was up to the right and easy to ID with his bleach, his facial scar and the bumps on his back. The other critter had tags but they couldn't get a read and he was too well hidden. It was so windy and hard to get any good ID pictures.
Team Billand made it out to Ka'ena Point from the west side and found miss Lei Ola RH48 hidden away in the water sleeping and tags showing. Her position again made it difficult to see the hook and she wasn't cooperating.
They also found RL42 alone resting on her side briefly showing her tags. She was resting peacefully.
Meanwhile our old friend Karen Bryan was out at Ka'ena Point and spotted a couple of seals. One seal bleached N1 RIP RR70, with a large very large female. Karen shared her findings with Barbara who was able to ID the "very large" female as Aukai RL12. This is great news since we haven't heard about or seen her in quite a while. The other two seals were ID'd as R353 with the cookie cutter scars and fresh wound, and Ka'ena by his bleach mark.
Gayle spotted three critters on Rabbit Island today.
