3/18/2018 Monk Seal Dailies:

Today's dailies are brought to you by Gayle and Team Billand.

Gayle reported rain hovering over Rabbit Island so the pictures were so-so, but she did determine there were two critters hanging out. No one was out at the beaches with rainy weather but she did find Miss Kaiwi resting her head on a rock at Kokee.

Team Billand had a really WONDERFUL day, as you may know Barbara worries about our critters something fierce.

Well for the past week she has been worried about little Lei Ola, so you can only imagine how thrilled she was to find RH48 Lei Ola today on a Leeward Beach. Lei Ola is looking healthy, no new injuries, just the same ole' hook. RN14 Kalani came in after, but he settled down with Lei Ola for the day, he was a gentleman.

And if that wasn't enough happiness and cuteness Ka'ale (butt head) comes in. He is with Lei Ola and RN14 near the rocks. Ka'ale moved to the lower rocks, when Team Billand got a text from one of thier posse. a seal at plains, so they headed out to check.

Upon arrival at Plains Tower 2 they found Buster RV08 resting and a zone set up by lifeguards. Buster is big, robust and looking healthy. Team Billand called the hotline to let them know of a seal on shore at Plains. They waited until 3:15 then left Buster on a crowded beach. Life guards commented they thought it was the same seal that was there yesterday too. It is unknown if a volunteer arrived on site.

On their last check to the Leeward Beach Lei Ola and RN14 Kalani were still snoozing together. Ka'ale was still there to the right in a small pond, rolling and vocalizing before he left at 5 pm.
Oh.... and Team Billand got this very cool picture of a "brown boobie" (I had to look it up, because I had no clue).
