3/22/2018 Monk Seal Dailies:

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Gayle, Vicki and Team T&D.  Good to have Tammy and Dave back out there :-)

Team Billand took a drive out to plains at 6:15 am this morning and there they found Buster V08. Their timing was good, because as soon as they got there he rolled off and was gone. They pulled all the ropes and signs that were still up away.

Next stop Nanakuli where they found Benny RE74 high up on shore alone. They called the hot line and informed them of Benny's location. They stuck around and watched whales and waited a bit, but after a while they gave up and left the site. They went back at 10 am  and Benny had moved lower to waters edge, but no one was there with him.

Off to Leeward Beach and spotted a seal hauling up on rocks. They ID'd RN14 Kalani, very alert, vocalizing loudly, looking around, vocalizing again and again. ( I think he's singing :-) ). They kept their eye out for another seal but didn't see any other critter. They stayed with him until a "colorful character" came by, so they left.  They did go back at 3:30 pm and we was still sleeping on rocks in peace.

Last stop of the day on the westside the rain and wind was in full force. They spotted a seal hiding in the rocks alone, they tried all angles to get a good shot but the seal was tucked away. Luckily they could see the tags RH32 it's Ka'ale.

Team T&D (Tammy and Dave) drove out to Ka'ena Point because of all the rain. Tammy checked in with Lesley and she informed them there was a seal at Camp Erdman. They checked it out and it was RW02 PvKauai.

Next critter they found was Ka'ena RO40 on the rocks between the runway and his pool.  And last but not least they found Rip RR70 on the rocks at the main pool. Not too shabby for a rainy day for Team T&D.

Gayle got a text from posse pal Vicki today about a critter at Kaupo. Gayle wasn't able to get there until after 5 this evening and the critter was up on the hill all sandy, not to mention it was raining. Gayle wasn't able to give a positive ID so it will be listed as a UU although she really really thinks it's Right Spot.
But Gayle was able to positively without a doubt ID Kaiwi today, and so did Vicki.  Gayle also noted she did not see any seals on Rabbit Island today.
