While in the driveway this morning, Lesley saw a familiar shape down at Camp Erdman Point. She went to investigate and there was RW02 PvKauai. The trails showed he spent the night and he was still there at sunset when she got back.
Late this afternoon she went out to the point and found RO40 Ka'ena hauled out at an odd location on reefs near Nihoa's Pool. ( She has seen Squinty and Kauai Kolohe there many times, this was unusual for Ka'ena)
There were lots of people out and this gave Lesley opportunity for lots of outreach. There was a group of students that had been out on a monitored visit, they were both happy and exhausted having lots of fun.
Team Billand out checking the usual beaches while at Electric Beach they spotted a seal and hurried down to the site. They were able to ID da Benny RE74, they called the hotline and gave them the ID and location.
Off to a Leeward Beach where they saw a critter coming in, came close looked and then left. They waited and the critter came again, looked around, turned and left again. On the third look the critter hauled out and headed to his resting place on high rocks. They were able to ID Kekoa RK72 N2. On their last check late afternoon he was gone, but they did spot him foraging off shore.
Westside 20 minute beach they found R3CU alone relaxing on the rocks. They were able to ID R3CU.
Last check at Leeward Beach when they found Kekoa foraging off shore, they also spotted a seal in a different location on high rock, middle section. They ID'd RN14 Kalani N14, resting in the blustery winds and cold sea spray. He was resting peacefully and content.
