3/12/2018 Monk Seal Dailies:

Today's dailies are brought to you by our faithful seal patrol Team Billand.

The first find of the day for Team Billand was at a Leeward Beach was Kekoa RK72, foraging off shore then came in to high rock on left side. He was ID'd with a beautiful bleach number N2 !
They spotted two more animals off shore, but they wouldn't land so Team Billand left and would check back later.

They continued their journey checking all the usual "hot" spots and they came up empty. It was chilly, windy and raining again.

Team Billand decided to return to the Leeward Beach, there NOAA was there to bleach an unsuspecting critter. Turns out RN14 Kalani was the lucky critter of the day.

While Team Billand was checking other sites, RN14 hauled out to the right of Kekoa. NOAA got their bleach kit together and walked down to Kalani and put a big N14 on his dorsal. He slept through the process, when they finished he lifted his head and went back to sleep.

Team Billand checked on the boys one last time and Kekoa was next to RN14.  N2 & N14 snoozing the afternoon together. Thank you NOAA.

Barbara sent a couple of photos of the third critter that never hauled out but had been foraging off shore earlier in the day with Kekoa and Kalani.  The only thing she could make out was a bleach or nic of some kind on the back with a cookie scar
