November 20, 2024 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, Tammy and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:18 am to 1:25 pm and there were five seals seen during that time.
Hauling out from the rock flats near the LPB surge channel was Juvenile Female 1: She hauled out and moved up to  and around an Adult Male. The J/F 1 was juvenile size, newer coat with very light gray female belly and unsure about tags.
The Adult Male: adult size, medium gray male belly and two red tags. The A/M entered the LPB surge channel at 11:49 am and swam in the Makapuu direction and hauled about noon between the 3BS and SRI where an Adult Female and Juvenile Female 2 were located.
Up next to the 1BS was a Weaner Male: regular weaner size, older coat, yellow male belly and two red tags. The weaner moved down out of the dunes and over the berm and down to the water. Later he moved back up. This is probably weaner RT19 but Marilyn just wasn't sure.
Near each other between 3BS and SRI were two seal initially:
Adult Female: adult size, gray female belly and two red tags. The A/F may gave a scar on her ventral neck area.
Juvenile Female 2: larger juvenile size, light female belly and two red tags
At noon the A/M hauled out to the A/F and J/F2. He visited both seals and then all went into snooze mode. The A/M might be RK24 Bruno, Marilyn thinks she spotted his right side scar when he was on LPB and his lip scar when he was with the two females.

Tammy made a quick visit to BG 303 and PO12 today. The pup is 36 days old today and is looking chunky. Momma BG is looking thinner these days. Tammy didn't stay long and just as she was getting ready to leave Mom and pup went into snooze mode.

Team R&B started their day checking in at pokai but there were no seals seen there at all. So from there they headed over to rest camp where once again there were multiple seals foraging. First to be
identified was R3CX Nalu foraging with RH48 Lei Ola.  Seems there two keep each other company a lot lately.  Even when Lei Ola does her best to stay away from the boys.
And again today they saw a shark swiftly going by the seals at a high rate of speed. They asked the lifeguard what kind of shark was out there, and he thought it was a reef shark.
Then they spotted two seals battling it out once again. Sure enough it was RL20 Kalua and RM31 Kai bosom buddies. Once again there was a lot of action out there today.

In the afternoon they headed back to pokai to check and they were happy they did. They found RM31 Kai and RL20 Kalua sound asleep on the rocks.  The two looked exhausted.... gee we wonder why!
Team R&B also spotted a cute turtle passing by them .

Next stop at Makaha they found the the 2 year old from Kauai RP28. This little cutey was alone on shore resting. They did see his tags for a positive ID. He has a cc scar on his hind flipper and scar under his belly.

Traffic was crazy once again, but they pulled over to check out tracks. From afar they spotted the same seal hauled out which they believe to be RH32 Kaale. While checking in on him, they watched as a woman approached the seal. She was happy to get up close for her photo op. Team R&B was furious but they were too far away to do anything.
