Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:49 to 2:13 pm and there were three seals seen during that time.
On LPB was RK24 Bruno: adult size, newer coat, medium gray male belly, two red tags and a scar on the right rear side. There was a sooty tern near him for the first 20 minutes.
A short distance away from RK24 was a seal labeled as an Unknown Sub-adult: sub-adult to small adult size, dark coat, and at least one tag. Marilyn just couldn't be sure if it was a male or female.
Between 3BS and SRI was an Adult Male: adult size, old coat, brown male belly, unsure about tags. There were a few instances when Marilyn thought she saw a nb on the tip of the RFF, but she could not confirm. She suspects the seal will molt soon. If there is a nb this could be R606.
Team R&B started their morning checking out rest camp. There on shore by the cabins was R3CX Nalu, he was alone and snoozing. They walked all the way out to him, but couldn't see him due to the down hill spot where he was snoozing. After going further they were finally able to get a view of him. By the time they walked back Nalu had left. They could see he was going after a very small school of fish.
Next stop at Kahe they spotted a seal resting. Once they got closer to its location they realized there were actually two seals. One was R617, who is difficult to ID, but they're pretty sure its him.
The other was the handsome RL20 Kalua. When the waves came up and splashed both seals, RL20 took off and R617 stayed.
Team R&B spotted two seals at Tracks. When they went to check it out there was a miscalculation of where the animals were resting, so they had to back track.
There was an adult and a smaller seal. They studied the adult but couldn't get much, they weren't sure if it was a male or female. They did see one tag, but it wasn't readable, there were no scars that they could see. Once they got home and looked at the photos they still couldn't make an ID. So the seal was reported as an Unknown Adult.
The smaller seal was on the left side, greenish coat and was sleeping. When the little one did wake it was a little surprised the other seal was gone. It scrambled on shore, looking to the right and left.
Finally Team R&B got the to see its tag RS32! This is Kaimana's 2023 little girl. She was born at Turtle Bay. RS32 left the area heading in a westerly direction.
