Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:15 to 2:00 pm and there were five seals seen during that time.
Near the LPB surge channel was an Adult Female 1: adult size, light female belly, unsure about tags.
Between 3BS and SRI (closer to 3BS) was an Adult Male: adult size, old dark coat, sand-covered dark male belly, unsure about tags.
About 20 feet further toward SRI was Adult Female 2: adult size, light gray female belly and two red tags. She seems to have a small scar on her lower neck/upper chest area.
Partially hidden behind the waterfront rocks near SRI was an Unknown Adult: adult size, newer coat, not sure about sex or tags. Marilyn's only had a dorsal view of this seal.
Team R&B first stop brought them to where they were filming the "Moana" movie. They got to see lots of folks dressed on the set.
Next they watched the dolphins way out. Still no seal sightings, but they did see one small shark. Lifeguards posted the signs. Then the jet skis came out to the came out to chase the shark from the set. That's when Team R&B spotted their first seal out in the water. They believe this seal is Nalu R3CX.
Heading over to rest camp the only seal they saw foraging today wasRL20 Kalua. He came in around 10:30 am and went to a small school of fish. The jet ski came over and saw the seal, they told a man with a baby to get out of the water. Also informed them there were sharks seen.
RL20 came flying in, which made them wonder what was going on. The seals been out foraging for months, but maybe the school of fish is just too small.
Back at pokau Team R&B had been there for quite awhile without seeing any seals. Then they heard a snort. Sure enough a seal was coming in and put his head on the rocks. It was R3CX Nalu, he then went to the shallows and rolled about a lot. He didn't stay long so he left and they spotted him going to the school of fish. They never saw him again.
Later in the day when they did a recheck, they found RM31 Kai. He was alone on the edge of the rocks. They noted he might have a bite on his chest area, they couldn't get a good enough look to be sure. He didn't seem to be bothered by it at all.
At another west side location they saw a large female seal on therocks. There were two kids close by screaming, which seem to spook the seal. She galumphed on the rocks and took off. They believe this seal was RH76 Kala, she is huge.
While they were at Kahe they saw a seal passing by. It went by too fast for them to make an ID. The seal was an adult with a clean coat, no scars they could see. It was reported as an Unknown Adult.
Lastly they spotted a seal at tracks. The seal was fat with greenish coat, they couldn't see if there were tags but could see it was a male. They didn't head over to get a closer look because the seal was by the homeless camps and didn't want bring any attention to the seal. The seal was reported an Unknown Male.
