Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:54 to 3:13 pm and there were four seals seen during that time.
Alone on the berm of LPB was weaner RV76: large weaner size, two red tags and female belly.
On the 1BS side of LPB nearer the water were two seals:
Sub-adult Female: sub-adult to small adult size, new coat, female belly, no tags that could be seen. Nearby was RV50: older weaner size, yellow female belly, applied N81 bleach and three tags.
About 50 feet Makapuu side of the 3BS was a Juvenile Unknown: larger juvenile size, new coat, no info on sex or tags.
Out on the west side Team R&B were happy to find Miss Kala RH76. She came in cautiously and then went to her nesting area and settled. She was alone without her beau.
From afar they saw there was a big seal on shore at Makaha. So they headed over to find R3CX Nalu, and he is molting away. They did a recheck later in the afternoon and he was still there resting.
At electric beach they saw a seal coming out of the outfall headed to the shore, landed and kept looking around. Then the seal turned around and left. A group of people hurried over to get a picture of the seal. Team R&B believe this was RP28 Wakea, but he disappeared before they could be sure.
Off the outfall was an adult with clean coat, at least one tag and the seal never landed. Perhaps that's what RP28 was looking for when he landed. They also noted this seal has a scar on the right of its head. Maybe Aukai?
Next they headed over to Nimitz to check, especially since there were so many poles set up yesterday and today. There was R407 Kawika had just arrived and placed himself under one of the poles per the fisherman. One of the other guys told them there was a second seal so Team R&B went looking.
Sure enough there was another seal. It was Huakai KG89 on shore far from R407. Guess plains was too crowded for her. No one was bothering her at all which is a nice change of pace.
They decided to make a late check on Kala because they realized after they left she was starting her molt. When they arrived near her was the green RM31 Kai. They were happy to see the two of them together. Both moved way inland for the night together again.
