Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:58 am to 1:31 pm and there were two seals seen during that time.
They were seen near each other between the 3BS and SRI:
Adult Male: large adult size, old coat, dark brown male belly, unsure about tags. Marilyn is guessing he is on island ready to molt.
Two outrigger canoes went by and the paddlers took photos of the seals. They were a distance off shore but the adult male was aware of the paddlers.
Because there were few seals, Marilyn spent time watching the masked boobies. There was one pair of MBs near where the pair raised a chick last year. There was another pair of MBs on the highest point of the crater rim. Marilyn saw one of the lone MB on the crater rim and at least another MB flying around. It will be interesting to see how many chicks will be raised in 2025.
Team R&B started off their morning at rest camp. First they spotted R3CX Nalu hauling out by the cabins. The lifeguards put out the signs, which made Team R&B happy.
They they saw one seal foraging alone today. It was the lovely RH48 Lei Ola.
There was one jet ski out there fishing, thankfully they were respectful of the seal.
At another west side location they finally found Miss Kala RH76. She was resting peacefully in the company of RM31 Kai. He was to her right, he seemed to be pretty tuckered out. Kala is looking pretty big.
Next stop was at Kahe where there were two seals on the rocks. They hurried over to look and beyond being thrilled there was RK72 Kekoa Alii resting with RL20 Kai.
Lastly they spotted two seals on shore at tracks. Team R&B took the photos from afar. The smaller seal looks like RP30 Puka who has been around the area lately. The adult was a male, but they're just not sure of its ID.
They had to leave, and later when they went to check they didn't see the seals.
