Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:28 to 2:00 pm and there were five seals seen during that time.
Between mid-LPB and about 20 feet Makapuu of the 1BS were four seals:
Furthest out on LPB was an Adult Female: adult size, newer coat, light to medium gray female and two red tags.
Closer to 1BS was Adult Male 1: adult size, older darker coat with green on rear flippers, darker gray male belly; tags were not seen. He may have a mid-dorsal pit scar.
Slightly Lanikai of 1BS was R416: sub-adult size, newer coat, no tags, light male belly with distinctive scars.
On the beach slightly Makapuu of 1BS was Adult Male 2: adult size, older brown coat, brown male belly and at least one red tag.
On the waterline near 2BS was RK24 Bruno: adult size, newer coat, light to medium gray male belly and two red tags.
Team R&B were out and did not see any seals until they arrived at rest--camp. Before they saw the foraging seals they once again got to enjoy the dolphins.
Next they spotted Miss Lei Ola RH48. She was busy foraging and keeping away from the males.
RL20 Kalua was also out there foraging and was very close to a shark that had caught something. There was a lot of splashing and swirling. Team R&B could see RL20 eye wide open looking at the shark. Team R&B informed the lifeguards who were aware the shark was in the area.
Signs were posted and the lifeguards told people at least three times to be aware. Team R&B wasn't able to get a photo as it all happened so fast.
The seals disappeared from the area for a long time. Team R&B waited to make sure all the seals were okay and they were so they left.
They went looking for RP28, they searched the area where they had seen him yesterday. He wasn't there so they walked the beach. Then they spotted a seal near the Lifeguard tower. They walked over and there was RP28 resting and is about 50% molted. They were surprised to see him go higher up, over a log, then up in the sand to under the tower. Lifeguards were in awe and concerned if the seal would get bitten by the ants. Seems there is a nest under the tower.
RP28 kept going further in, then stopped, turned around and went to the naupaka bushes. Very active and smart buggah.
Lastly they went back to recheck rest-camp area. To their surprise R3CX Nalu was hauling out by the cabins. There were a couple surf boards on shore. A couple of folks ran over and pulled the boards up. Nalu finally hauled further up. It was nice to see.
