Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:40 to 2:30 pm and there were five seals seen during that time.
Initially there were two seals on the beach down from the 1BS:
Sub-adult Female: small, thin sub-adult size, newer coat, light gray female belly and two red tags. This seal was gone when Marilyn checked back at 1:14 pm and was not seen again.
Adult Male 1: adult size, older coat, dark brown male belly and at least one red tag on the RRF.
Adult Female: robust adult size, gray female belly, scar on mid-lower neck area and two red tags.
Adult Male 2: adult size, newer coat, gray male belly and two red tags. This might be RK24, but Marilyn wasn't sure.
At 1:11 pm, weaner RT19 hauled out 50 feet Makapuu of the 3BS: weaner size, two red tags, golden male belly.
Team R&B first stop at Pokai, where they found the big handsome male. He was high up onshore resting. They still believe him to be R617 but haven't received any confirmation. They think he has a white naile on his LFF. He remained onsite all day.
Next they headed over to the rest-camp area. Once again there were multiple seals out there foraging. There were also lots of people out and about. The first seal they ID'd was RL12 Aukai.
Next was RL20 Kalua who was very busy foraging.
They spotted the seal with the green snout and confirmed it was RH48 Lei Ola. She was very busy out there and keeping her distance from the males.
Next was R3CX Nalu who was catching up on eating. After feasting he headed over by the cabins and hauled out. The lifeguards put up signs and tape. Team R&B were grateful especially since the beach was so crowded.
Last stop at yoks they spotted their green pickle (😅) RP28 was alone on shore. Well there were three ladies not too far away that were very excited to see him. Team R&B hung out for a bit and then called it a day.
On a side note Team R&B often gets to see some amazing things while they are out and about. Well today was no exception, they observed a surfer enjoying the waves with his best friend.
