04/09/2021 (part 2) Friday Lesley's Ka'ena Update

 

KPtSP was seal quiet today. 

I went out with the PacRim team to do the LAL chicks survey. The good news is none of the 45 chicks checked had signs of pox.

Many Kolea's are already in tuxes and the Shearwater are nesting EVERYWHERE

RW02 PVKauai was hauled out on a beach sleeping, he spent the day there.

RO40 Ka'ena also had a beach for himself. Lately I've realized that Ka'ena is one of the older seals in the area !?!?! Where has time gone ? There's been a big turnover of seals in the last 8 yrs. Going out on daily basis, seeing the new ones often has made them turn into "locals". Way different from 10/14 yrs ago

On my way back I found RN44 who came by yesterday for a visit and back again today.
