So much going on in our little seal world in the last 24hrs !
Congrats Kaiwi, can't believe you followed your auntie's Rocky steps you'll have a whole lot of people on their tip toes for the next several weeks. You have proved to be a great mom with your previous pups, so no doubt you'll do the same again. I saw your big brother RO40 "Ka'ena" today and I whispered in my head "you're an uncle again". Mom Irma pulled a similar prank on us in 2006 when she gave birth to him at Ka'ena Pt. At the time there wasn't even a predator fence for the NAR. Well, a lot has changed over the years.
It was spectacular day out here, everyone that came from town mentioned rain and floods, here it was 8:30PM when we had a cooling of 5 minutes downpour.
We documented 9 seals today
Started off with RL98 Lina who spent the day on her favorite beach. Then RL74 Kami waking up from a nap, entering the water and swimming away after overnighting.
Next in a new location for them RL42 Leia and RG28 Lefty were playing in the water. They hauled out on a small sandy beach and went to sleep for the rest of the day.
As mentioned above we saw RO40 Ka'ena and on some outter reefs 3 seals: R3CU, R3CX Nalu and a visitor from Molokai RJ40 (F). She was reported to me yesterday but only by a possible J41 tag. Well report was correct, and I gave them a feedback today.
Later RW02 PVKauai hauled out for the afternoon on a sandy beach.
More tomorrow - Be Safe
