We looked around for RK40 “Napua” but she was MIA.
At 10Mnts Beach we found R330 Squinty hauled out. I put a “Ssssh I’m sleeping” sign and we went on.
A big surprise awaited us at Hidden Beach. RN58 “Luana” had overnighted at the top of the 2nd dune and was now down at the water edge with her face in the water. Down on the other side of the beach RK88 “Puna” D105 her little boy was freshly hauled out. We didn’t see any interaction between them. After doing some outreach with visitors we went on our way checking all nooks and crevices for seals.
Once in the NARS we went and check Squinty’s cove and the girls pools. The tide wass VERY low. On the outside of the pool Marilyn spotted a head bobbing up and down. The seal came into BG’s Pool and did the full check of the area. Marilyn experience what I’ve been thru this week with RK36 “Kauai Kolohe” – having a hard time trying to ID him while he swims from pool to pool.
We were just passing the Runway when I spotted a seal. It was RR70 “RIP” he didn’t move and our way back he was still there.
At the point RL12 “Aukai” was @ Back Beach. She may have overnighted cause her trail was all the way up the beach with a wallow near the big rock.
As we were talking story I saw a head coming from far like a torpedo straight to the Main Pool entrance. It took him a while to coming do the swim around vocalize a little – turns out it was RO40 “Ka’ena” he left the pool and we didn’t see him again.
Back at Hidden Beach RK88 “Puna” was alone – we did more outreach with visitors.
At 10Mnts Beach RN58 “Luana” had joined R330 “Squinty” – they were sleeping peacefully.
I may head back in the late afternoon. More tomorrow
