08/10/18 Monk Seal Dailies: (part 1) RR70, RH32, RN14, RL42, & RH48

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Lesley and a little scoop from me.

This morning I met up with Posse pal Tammy and we took a ride to Turtle Bay. We made a couple of stops on the way up, one stop in Hauula. We did not find any seals but we did find a very large wallow showing a seal was there. What was interesting along with the wallow there was some poo. (In the old days this would have earned me a poo and spew T shirt).  It did not look like the typical seal poo, but more like a horse had been by. Anyway that is as close as we got to seeing a seal after making several stops.

Team Billand was at the outfall early this morning. they spotted three seals, but one left heading in the Honolulu direction and they could not ID at that time.  That left two seals one was RIP RR70 ID'd by his ding on back, scar over eye, N1 Bleach, he was foraging mostly underwater and Ka'ale RH32, who also stayed under water for a long time today.

There were 20 fishermen out there today, making some good
catches. But two seals there, the fishermen stopped working with the live bait. Around 8 am both seals went out of the outfall.  When Team Billand checked back both seals had returned, and now RN14 Kalani was on the rocks with RIP.

Team Billand found RL42 Leia on a westside beach. She was well hidden and very difficult to get some decent photos. They were unable to see if she is molting but they suspect she might be starting. On recheck she had moved up a bit and her tags were showing.

Team Billand's last find of the day was Lei Ola RH48, she was on the rocks waves coming in and around her, but she just stayed there on the rocks. She is going on 11 months with that dam hook.

Everybody poops
RIP
Ka'ale
RN14 Kalani
RL42 Leia
