Team Billand didn't have quite the same success today as Lesley and Tammy, but they did come up with a couple of interesting finds.
Of course they were out first thing this morning to check on their problem child Ka'ale who has been gorging himself at the all you can eat seafood buffet every morning. Today was no exception, when they arrived on site Ka'ale RH32 was in the process of stealing a big papio from the fishermen. He had the pole pulling tight so Ka'ale could not swallow the hook. The fight was on, Ka'ale was not giving in as he kept tugging. In the end, Ka'ale finally let go and the fisherman got his paipo all chewed up with the hook still in tact. WHEW!
The fisherman was ready to throw the fish back in the water to Ka'ale, but Team Billand told him not to, that it's not a good thing to do, explaining it will do more harm than good. So he places the fish on the side for a while. Then as Team Billand was focused on watching Ka'ale the paipo disappeared. hmmm maybe one of the other guys tossed it when they weren't watching.
Ka'ale left and headed out to sea, so Team Billand went to search the other beaches.
At 2 Team Billand returned to check on Ka'ale and he had also returned to the outfall foraging. He is certainly on a eating binge. He is also getting very good at stink eye.
Team Billand checked all their usual stops even went out to Ka'ena west without spotting any critters. They met up with Lesley and Tammy while out there. But they did see a lot of bird poop and low and behold there were a few black noddy hanging out.
On Team Billand's way home they spotted a large frigatebird flying high carrying a big fish, while watching the bird dropped the fish and went back for it. After catching it a second time and taking off the fish dropped again, guess it was too big to fly away with.
