8/22/2018 Monk Seal Dailies: (part 1)

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Team T&D and Lesley. Lesley's complete update is part 2 of the dailies. ALSO take a look at the link Lesley provided a link about the Hikianalia's California Voyage.  Thank goodness they left when they did, and hopefully they will have smooth sailing all the way.

Team T&D (Tammy and Dave) drove out to Ka'ena Point to enjoy the calm before the storm. They were rewarded by finding Napua RK40/41, well worth the trip. Unfortunately it was their only find, guess the rest of the gang is looking for a place to settle in.

Team Billand hit up the Ka'ena West trek and at the 20 mark they spotted three seals. One in the water, semi submerged ID'd as RW02 by tags. Next RN14 Kalani and RL42 Leia together in small water holes resting. Kalani & Leia had some words then they went back to sleep. RW02 PvKauai.  Talk about being thrilled and happy campers, Team Billand had an awesome find.

Just another 5 minutes into their trek they spotted a small little fella blending in with the rocks. They ID'd RK88/89 Puna. He is sooo tiny compared to the older seals. Such a sweet find. Team Billand noticed some marks on his right fore flipper side. Similar to the bite marks they had seen on Lei Ola, speaking of wonder where she has been).

We also had Kaale who was foraging as usual at his kitchen area.

He might have line coming from his mouth...need better shots to really see whats going on.

I dont know why he continues to stay here forever and ever. Wish he would move on like all the other seals.

He is so green, fat and healthy so far as we can see.

We never went back to check on him, had some other things going on and oh well...will check today.

Blessings to all, hope the LANE turns and goes away from our island...all our islands. I think we all had enough for this year ... dont ya think?
