8/27/2018 Monk Seal Dailies: (part 1)

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Lesley and a link sent by posse pal Gayle. Lesley's complete update is part two of the dailies.  Gayle emailed me a link to the  Kauai Seal's blog by Kim Rogers.  If you have a chance give it a read, this particular link is about Sole & RK58 first encounter including a video.  Beyond heartwarming!  https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fthemarinemammalcenter%2Fvideos%2F928013864049272%2F&show_text=0&width=560

Back on Oahu Team Billand got to the outfall and there was Mr, Kaale RH32 and he was already had a fish in his mouth. The early morning started with about 15 fishermen and by the time they left there were at least 23. Team Billand didn't stay too long, but long enough to watch this little two year old stuff his little face. They left to check to check other locations but did return later in the morning and Ka'ale left the outfall. Later in the day they finally found him hauled out on the rocks at a nearby beach. He was alone, tags showing and a tuckered out fat little two year old.

Team Billand checked KoOlina and found Pohaku RO28 and RIP RR70 were on shore. There were signs already up and they made some minor adjustments, pushing them deeper into the ground. They stopped some folks coming from the other end, they were all good and understood.  They met the gentleman who had put up the signs and thanked him for helping out. Team Billand called and left a message for the hotline.  Team Billand has been looking after RO28 since 2009, they keep close tabs on their girl. RIP is looking very green, but still by Pohaku's side.

While looking for other critters and coming up empty Team Billand did see some dude on his board with camera hanging out with some dolphins.  Sure he got some good pictures, just wish he knew better than to leave them alone.
