06/25/2021 Friday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Melody and Team R&B💕. It was a happy Aloha Friday for All!

Team R&B started at the bay and watched all the boats, paddlers, and swimmers going for the dolphins. I understand the excitement but there really needs to be limits. Out in the ocean side of the jetty, they spotted a seal with a clean coat, adult size foraging around the zoo of people. They just couldn't get an ID.

RL20 Kalua was seen later in the day foraging in the bay. At that time there were paddle boarders once again, but RL20 would dive down and move away from them. They did witness RL20 catching and eating a fish today. Good to see the little green kid filling up.

At another west side location they initially thought they were going to come up empty. But they looked

down and there were two seals sleeping side by side. It was Nalu R3CX who was in the shallows and RH76 Kala at his side. Waves came in and Kala moved up on lower rocks. Nalu moved up too, then went back to the shallows but kept a close watch on Kala.

Onward and upward to another location and Team R&B was thrilled to find another two seal resting in a small pond. It was RN14 Kalani and RL42 Leia together. It's amazing how Kalani finds her and stays close by. RL42 was very visible in the pond with little fish nibbling on her body. She was relaxed getting the ultimate spa treatment.

Team R&B's last find was RL98 Lina who loves to hide in the rocks. They were staring at the water, rocks and Lina did a flex and that's when they noticed her. It took them a bit to get a positive ID but when they saw her roto tag they knew it was her. She was resting peacefully.

Melody got a text this morning from a friend that a seal was down in Waikiki. So Melody ignored it, LOL no she headed down. There were signs and cones already up. Melody met up with Gamma Gayle who had already ID'd the lovely Miss Rocky RH58. Of course this made Melody's day in that she gets to see her beloved Rocky hanging out at one of her favorite beaches. She was snoozing soundly up against the wall. Rocky stayed there for a while and eventually making her way to the water.

Thankfully no one bothered or got in her way. It took Miss Rocky a little longer to make her way down to the water, whether it's her age or she just doing as she pleases. She made several stops and naps along the way. Rocky is one of out elder females so she gets to do whatever she wants. When she finally made her way into the water she had a few snacks on her way out. Rocky met with some sea turtles while she was foraging.
