06/16/2021 Thursday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Tammy of Team T&D and of course Team R&B💕.

Tammy hiked out to Ka'ena Point today and caught up with Lesley at the point. They had a 9 seal day, pretty nice reward for hiking out. First there was Luana RN58, by the look of the wallows in the sand she most likely spent the night.

Next there was Mom RL42 Leia and Pup Puka P03.  The kid was playing in the shallows while Mom was trying to catch up  on some needed rest. Puka's coat has officially gone from a dark coat to a shiny silver one.

Next there was RG40 Holokai and RO40 Ka'ena. They were snoozing near each with no interaction

between them. (Holokai looks so little near Ka'ena, then again it might be the perspective.)

The rest of Tammy's day was "find the seal hidden in the rocks"  First was Kami RL74 hidden away. The only reason Tammy noticed, she noticed a light color rock. Especially since it looked out of place. Next was Nalu R3CX, and eventually he cooperated by showing his tags.

Then a seal came barking thru the channel. The seal never stopped, entered the main pool and left. Thankfully between Lesley and Tammy they saw enough to ID RK36 Kauai Kolohe. Lastly Lesley spotted a seal as they were leaving. Neither of them saw him when they started the hike, then again they blend in with the rocks so who knows. Lesley was able to ID RG28 Lefty.

Team R&B first seal of the day was Kalua RL20. This little green machine is still foraging when they see him.  There were times when they actually could see him chasing fish. He was making a big splash, not whether that was because he was catching fish or the folks in the area were happy to see him.

The other seal was their beloved Lei Ola RH48 who was also foraging close by. She did head out to open ocean maybe going for some bigger fish.  When Team R&B went back to check Lei Ola had hauled out on the rocks.

Team R&B received a call from a relative that there was a dead seal on the rocks at a west side location. Needless to say their hearts sand and they hurried to the site. The seal was ALIVE and it was RL70

Leina PHEW !!!! She was just fine resting on the rocks enjoying some sunshine.

They once again spotted a seal from afar when they were heading to do their Ka'ena West trek.  So they went to check, and happy they did. There was RW02 PvKauai snoozing alone on shore. Later after their Ka'ena West trek they did a check and saw a man and woman close to RW02, fortunately they did not disturb him. He just watched as they walked in front of him. A little later he left for the day on his own, not because he was run off like Nalu was yesterday.

Unfortunately they did not see ANY critters at all. It was just hot and wore them out. They did see mongoose running about.
