Today's dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕.
Marilyn had the opportunity to view Rabbit Island for a few hours this afternoon. For the first two hours it was just Aukai RL12 and P04 snoozing behind the waterfront rocks almost completely hidden. Then P04 decided she wanted to go for a swim. She got almost 40 feet away from Mom before Aukai started after her. They swam for about 30 minutes then hauled out for a feed. P04 is packing on the pounds and Mom is beginning to look fairly thin.
Close to two and half hours into viewing Marilyn noticed a seal 50 feet Lanikai side of the 3BS.
Marilyn ID'd this seal as RP24 Mohala formerly known as P01. She was ID'd by her weaner size and coloration, two tags, light female belly and NB on LFF. Marilyn thinks she had recently arrived.About 10 minutes before packing it up while viewing RP24, Marilyn saw a seal cruising along the coastline. She later saw the seal briefly closer to Aukai and P04, but the UU never hauled out.
Team R&B once again found RL20 Kalua foraging. They checked on him a few times and he had never hauled out. They also saw RH48 Lei Ola foraging, but she eventually landed on the rocks alone. She is looking beautiful with her new coat. To add icing to the cake they found a nesting shear water.
At another west side location they found RL70 Leina snoozing on lower rocks and well pooping. Seems Team R&B timing is pretty crappy.
RN14 Kalani hauled in at the seal inlet where Kala usually is resting. He sniffed every rock, turned to where she rest, but she wasn't there. He went into his water hole to mope.
Off to another spot they found Kaale RH32 hidden in the rocks, they almost missed him. They have never seen him at this specific spot so it was a big surprise.
Late afternoon they spotted a seal far off at Yokes. Team R&B wasn't sure if they would make it over but of course they weren't going to let this one get away. There they saw R3CX Nalu resting, when a tourist came by. Team R&B educated him but as soon as they walked away the guy walked up to the seal for pictures. Nalu stayed and was okay.
On Team R&B's way back from Ka'ena West they saw two men walk up to Nalu, one with a boogie
board, tried to touch him. The other guy splashed water at the seal, Nalu postured and barked. The guy with the boogie board left, but the tourist with the dark short and hat sat with the seal. The seal moved away, the guy scooted over, Nalu would move again and the guy moved closer until Nalu left. Team R&B was too far away to do anything but to be furious. On their Ka'ena West trek they found one last seal sleeping on the rocks. It was R407 Kawika with his NB visible, no tags and scar on left eye. They did see him leave but was further away to get a couple of shots.
