Team T&D hiked Ka'ena Point and ran into Lesley at the NAR. Lesley was leaving when they arrived. Team T&D first find was Lina RL98 on her favorite beach. Next was a hard find but luckily for the bright orange tags they spotted RW02 PvKauai. Their last find at the point was RJ40, young female from Molokai was with R3CX Nalu.
They also got to see an Albatross chick stretch its wings in the wind.
Benny RE74 was down the beach from Mom RL42 and P03 Puka. Mom Leia and Puka pup were on the Mokule'ia side of birth beach. The other side of the beach is still rocky and missing a lot of sand.
Team R&B saw two animals leaving the outfall, one went straight out and the other went to tracks. Theseal was ID'd as RG28 Lefty who landed in the shoreline, rolled around and then left. The other seal was reported at an U/U.
Next Team R&B got a call from a friend saying a seal had just hauled up at plains. So off they went and found the critter but it took them a bit to get the ID. They walked around and lo and behold there was a beautiful natural bleach and wounds on his snout. It was Kolohe RW22 and his wounds are looking better. They sat with Kolohe for an hour and half, then left the site. People on the beach were being respectful.
Team R&B made their way to another westside location and there were two seals. One was RH32 Kaale and to his right was RG28 Lefty. It was good to see Kaale back in the neighborhood. It's amazing how much these boys have been traveling between the west side and Mokuleia.
Lefty was snoozing alone in his small water hole. His left bleached flipper and tags were visible.
After all that Team R&B did their Ka'ena West trek and only found one seal. It was RN14 Kalani who was snoozing in a small water hole alone. On their way back from their trek he was still there and dreaming. (wonder what seals dream of?)
