It was one of those special HMS days around here. I had 15 sightings a total of 12 seals. 11 IDed and 1 pending.
The seals were:
An overnighted RG28 Lefty down the beach and RN58 Luana also overnighted and spent the day in the area
Mom RL42 Leia and P03 Puka D32 were MIA till we found them in Weaner Cove nursing. We documented and stepped back fast. Later during the day, they hauled out on their beach
RL98 Lina overnighted on a beach where she spent the day
RG40 Holokai has been doing some frequent visits around here.
RL74 Kami still has the hook in the left corner of her mouth - I documented her and sent info in (as well as all the other individual seal reports)
RW02 PVKauai was sleeping on some reefs being slightly splashed by waves and spent his day like that
R3CX Nalu was also sleeping on up high reefs - he had the swim by visit of several seals such as RE74 Benny and RO40 Ka'ena.
I also had an U/M who we are working on the ID
Bonus was getting to observe an adult LAAL feeding a fledging chick.
More soon - Be safe
