Team R&B covered a lot of territory today and only found two seals. They even did the Ka'ena West trek and came up with no seals but lots of people. At a west side location they were happy to find RH32 Kaale having a deep snooze on lower rocks. To the right of seal inlet was the very handsome RN44 resting alone on the rocks. That was it for seal critters but they were treated to some dolphins and unfortunately people swimming with them.
Marilyn on the other hand had a very busy day observing Rabbit Island for three hours. There were a
All six seals were on the Makapuu side of the 3BS. About 40 feet of the 3BS were two seals; UF, subadult size, older coat, female belly with some green and two tags. Nearby was an UAM, adult size, darker male belly and two tags.
About 60 feet towards SRI were RL12 Aukai and P04. The UAM approached mom and pup several times during Marilyn's observation. After his first approach to Mom and pup he entered the water and he was later seen in the water bear the 1BS.
Marilyn saw the pup nurse on two different occasions. Marilyn could see P04's roto-tag from time to time.
Near SRI was an USM, unknown subadult size, very light male belly and two tags. He may have some sort of scar on his right rear side.
Way over on RRB was RP24 Mohala (aka P01). Her natural bleach on her LFF was visible, although hard to see in the photos. In one of the photos P24 there is a Red-tailed Tropic Bird behind her near what could be a nest. Marilyn has seen a number of tropic birds in this area. P24 is looking good, fat and with no lines. It's so good to have her back on island.
