02/09/2022 (part 2) Lesley's Weekly Ka'ena Update

 

Seals documented and reported last week were:

Jan 31: RN58 Luana and RG28 Lefty were at Camp Erdman. She had a new little wound on her neck Left side. nothing serious but may leave a little pit scar
Feb 1: RKA2, RN58 Luana, R330 Squinty and RG28 Lefty all spread out in different locations. Busy day with the re-opening of the permitted gate
Feb2: RL98 Lina (CC wound drying fast), RO40 Ka'ena back in his tide pools, RG28 Lefty, R330 Squinty, RN58 Luana and RKA2 all scattered
Feb 3: RN58 Luana overnighted in same spot, RO40 Ka'ena and RL98 Lina
Feb 4: with Tammy and Dave we saw RL98 Lina, RO40 Ka'ena and RKA2
Feb 5: with Diane we saw R407 Kawika finally decided to come by, found him overnighted on a sandy beach, RL98 Lina, RW02 PVKauai and RL47 Kamakana

Several BFAL Black Footed Albatross have been visiting. LAAL Laysan Albatrosses and chicks are everywhere. Whales are still stealing the show. We even had the visit of a game bird that made his way down from the hunting grounds.
