In the yesterdays news department posse pal Amy sent photos from her time watching over Kekoa Alii, Kaale and Lefty. Amy actually sent a link to a 5 minute video, but unfortunately it wouldn't load probaby due to size. Kekoa Alii and Kaale hauled in about 8:30 am and Lefty joined them around 3 pm to stir things up. He "ping ponged" between the two napping to wake them up and see who wanted to play. Eventually Kekoa ALii followed Lefty but Kaale stayed snoozing for another few hours.
Their first seals were seen at a populated beach and a hot spot for these critters. Upon their first check there were no seals, but they noticed a tourist filming on the rocks. So Team R&B went to check it out knowing there had to be a seal.
Within two minutes later all three seals, Kekoa Alii RK72, Kalani RN14, and Lefty RG28 were on shore. Of course there was lots of drama, posturing and barking. They put out the signs and spent time educating the crowd. The folks were respectful and really interested in learning about the seals.
The posse wasn't available today so Team R&B stayed on site until late afternoon. The met a very smart 12 y.o. boy who had the best questions and he educated them about his pet salamander. A volunteer arrived so Team R&B decided to check out other beaches.
They did a quick check after 5 pm and all three boys were still there and there was a new volunteer on site.
At another west side location and found two seals and lots of whales. RW02 PvKauai was on the rocks. They also spotted their little dude RP84 Pe'ekai. He was sneaking up into the rocks.
Team R&B did their best to check other locations but they were running late today after spending so much of their day with the boys earlier. Their last stop they were thrilled to find mother and son together again. There was RM31 Kai and RL42 Leia snoozing together. There were some tourist who said they see the seals all the time. Team R&B told them about Kai and Leia, and what a great gift it was for all.
