Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:33 to 2:08 pm and there were 8 seals seen there today. It's been quite awhile since there have been that many seals on the island.
On the rock flats near the Lanikai side of LPB was R416 Makali'i: sub-adult size, newer coat with the light male belly and distinctive scars and pigmented patches, no tags.
R7AF: sub-adult size, newer coat, light gray female belly and two red tags.
Adult Female: adult size, medium gray female belly and two red tags.
Adult Male: adult size old coat, brown male belly and at least one red tag. He entered the water about 1:13 pm and rolled about for awhile and came back into the LPB surge channel to see if either of the other two seals would follow. Later he showed up at by the S/F.
Directly fown from 1BS was the molting adult male whom Marilyn is reasonably sure is RK24: adult size, about 85% molted, light gray male belly, scar on the right rear side and at least one red tag.
About 35 feet in the Makapuu direction from RK24 was weaner RT19: weaner size, light tan male belly and two red tags.
Almost directly down from the 2BS was the Sub-adult Female: small sub-adult size, 100% molted, light to medium gray female belly and two red tags. At 1:33 pm Marilyn noticed the Adult Male who had been at LPB visited with her. He stayed a short time, then rolled into the water and was not seen again.
Behind waterfront rocks down from 3BS was an Unknown Sub-adult: subadult size, unsure about tags or sex. Marilyn never got a good look at this seal.
Team R&B started their day at pokai and on their first visit they found two seal resting together. One was the very handsome RM31 Kai, and the other was a male they could not identify.
Then they spent several hours at the rest camp side, since there have been several seals foraging. Today they found Aukai RL12 and R3CX Nalu foraging and sometimes fighting.
Every now and then they spotted an Adult seal with a mint green face. They couldn't make and ID and reported it as an Unknown Adult.
And then a fourth seal showed up. This one had a cc scar on the left side of its body. This seal was with R3CX who raced far out of view.
Returning back to pokai and found three seals. RL20 Kalua was up on the rocks, R617 was still there and RM31 Kai at his edge of the rocks.
Lastly they stopped at the cliffs where they spotted a seal who waslooking pretty thin. It had a tag, but they couldn't make it out. The seal seamed tired or weal, the waves were coming in and it just hung in there. The waves hit hard and rolled the seal about against the rocks. They noted the seal had a cc scar on the right side. They did their best to get its ID before it left, and think it might be RL42 Leia.
