Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:58 to 1:53 pm and there were three seals seen during that time.
Down from 1BS was RN04 Kainoa who now appears about 80% molted. His ventral is totally molted and much of his dorsal is molted but still has patches of fur in multiple places. He is adult size, gray male belly and did not see tags.
At 1:06 pm, Marilyn saw a seal in the shallow water in front ofKainoa. At 1:12 pm that seal had hauled out on the back Lanikai side of LPB. This seal labeled Unknown Juvenile: juvenile size, newer coat, light sand covered belly, not sure about tags. This seal later moved further along the cliff.
Just after Marilyn started viewing a monk seal hauled out near 3BS. This seal labeled an Unknown Sub-adult: sub-adult size, newer coat, two red tags, unsure about sex.
Team R&B arrived at pokai and spotted the Unknown Male was high up on shore. As they were photographing him they saw a volunteer just below. Team R&B spoke to her as she was trying to ID a female seal in the area. They were able to help out and ID RH76 Kala with her one tag.
They told her how they have spent the last two weeks watching over this U/M trying to make a positive ID. Also they noted his molt is moving along amazingly fast, he looks to be about 70% done.
Team R&B was happy to see Kala RH76 on her rocks again. This is her spot where she can hide from the boys. The volunteer was trying to get a tag shot for an ID, butTeam R&B were able to help out with that.
On their afternoon recheck Kala was gone.
Heading over to the rest-camp area they once again found several seals foraging. They also saw some sharks attacking something out there (not a seal), they were way out to the right.
The first seal they were able to ID was RL12 Aukai out there foraging.
Next they spotted as well as heard RL20 Kalua. He was foraging and they saw him with a fish, all while he was vocalizing.
Then they saw the seal with the green snout. There was their girl RH48 Lei Ola. She was further out foraging.
Along with the seals they saw lots of dolphins. They were amazing, further out going crazy, jumping, splashing and spinning.
Making a final stop at Makaha they found R3CX Nalu. They had wondered why he wasn't at rest-camp. Now they know, he was resting on shore and is molting. It appears his chest has opening up, we'll see how quickly it goes.
