October 13, 2024 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:50 to 2:30 and there were five seals seen during that time.
Alone on the Lanikai side of LPB was R416: subadult size, newer coat, light make belly with distinctive ventral dark spots and scars, a pit scar near LFF and no tags.
Near were two seals on the Makapuu side of 1BS:
R7AF: subadult size, new coat medium gray male belly and two red tags.
Adult Male: adult size, old coat, golden brown male belly and at least one red tag on RFF. The AM has been exhibiting pre-molt behavior and Marilyn could see breaks in the fur mid chest area.
Between Middle Cliff and 3BS was the sub-adult Female: Marilyn has been seeing her lately, Small sub0adult size, older coat, but now molting on the chest area about 15% female belly and two red tags.
Out on RRB was weaner: RT19: weaner size and two red tags. Marilyn never saw his ventral size but she's pretty sure it is RT19.

Team R&B started their day at pokai and saw one seal on shore. They determined the seal was about 50% molted when they realized it was RL20 Kalua. Amazing how quickly his molt is moving alone, seems the swimming has done him good.
They observed the dolphins and noticed one had a huge wound on the front part of its head (CC wound).

Next they checked out rest camp and watched over the water looking
for critters. Sure enough there were three to four different seals out there today. All were foraging amongst kayaks, canoes and swimmers.
Team R&B are aware that people are noticing the seals foraging daily in the area. They could hear folks talking about swimming with the dolphins and the seals. This could end up being a big problem if it doesn't get managed.
Meanwhile Team R&B were able to ID a couple of seals:
R3CX Nalu was the one with a clean coat and lots of scratches and scars.
They believe one of the seals to be RL98.
They spotted a seal with its head high up chomping on a fish. It was RH48 Lei Ola!
There was another adult seal with a clean coat, lots of scratches on its face and head. They couldn't make an ID.

On their last stop they saw three signs out at yoks. They walked out and saw a large male who had two red tags. They couldn't read them and think it might be a worn out W. Which makes them think this large adult male could be RW02.
