October 3, 2024 Thursday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, Tammy and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:30 to 2:10 pm and there were two seals seen during that time.
When she started viewing there was one seal on the shoreline down from the 3BS. This seal is labeled as Juvenile Male: juvenile to sub-adult size, light gray male belly and two red tags. If this is a sub-adult it could be R7AF who was on Rabbit Island yesterday.
Shortly after an Unknown Sub-adult hauled out to the J/M. They had a brief interaction and then settled. Marilyn looked away for about five minutes and started viewing again the Unknown Sub-adult had disappeared and was not seen again. The U/S was sub-adult size, dark coat and seemingly dark belly and no tags.

Tammy met up with Lesley and they went out to the point. Their seal sightings started off slow but they ended up seeing four seals.
Their first interesting sighting were 9 kolea together. Normally you don't see so many close together.
First seal sighting was RG32 on back beach. They also saw RG28 Lefty entering the main pool.  RP28 was also in the main pool area laying on his side.  Their last find was R420 Kaipo who looks so silvery and shiny in his new coat.  It was an all boys day.

Team R&B started their day at pokai and found Miss Kala RH76. She was back at her little spot on the edge of the rocks snoozing. The waves were getting to her but she just stayed.
On a recheck later in the day she was gone.

While in the area the spotted two seals foraging. Once again one seal had a clean coat and the other with a lot of green. They headed over to
get a closer look and they were able to ID RH48 Lei Ola and R3CX Nalu. Both were actively chasing the school of fish.

Lastly they made the hike out to Ka'ena west but did not see any seals. They did see lots of plovers together scurrying about on the rocks. They also saw an Iwa bird looking very cool.
They spotted two big turtles from afar on shore at Makua.
