October 25, 2024 Friday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:15 to 2:00 pm and there were four seals seen during that time.
She also noted the Sooty Terns have landed. It seems each year it gets earlier and earlier. She doesn't remember them landed before the wedge-tailed shearwaters had fledged.
About 100 feet Makapuu of the 1BS were two seals:
RN04 Kainoa: large adult size, mostly old dark coat and dark male belly. HE is now about 25% molted having lost his old fur on his upper ventral side.
Initially about 20 feet away, but later closer to RN04 was a Sub-adult Female: small sub-adult size, newer coat, light gray female belly and two red tags.
Closer to the 2BS were two more seals:
R7AF: sub-adult size, new coat, two red tags and light gray male belly.
RK24 Bruno: adult size, newer coat, gray male belly, two red tags and scar on his lower lip.

Team R&B's first find today at pokai was the unknown male. He continues his molt and was up by the grassy area. He later moved to the pond. The molt on his face, flippers, chest and belly are opening up. He remained alone in the same spot.

Heading over to rest-camp they observed four seals foraging this morning. There was one boat came in close. Team R&B spoke to the lifeguard who was watching too.
First to be identified was the lovely lady RL12 Aukai. She was back to feast on the school of fish.
Next they ID'd the very green Nalu R3CX. They there was the very vocal RL20 Kalua. Seems he has had a lot to say lately. The last one was a female with a green snout, who was Lei Ola RH48.

It was one of the dolphin boats that came in too close to the seals. Team R&B could hear the announcement from the boat, "look there are four seals" !!   Nalu was to the right of the boat.
