June 6, 2024 Thursday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:53 to 1:56 pm and there were just the moms and pups today.  Marilyn noted todays weather conditions would have good for NOAA to visit Rabbit Island if there was a need. It seems PO3's tagging is on hold until he is weaned again.
Closer to 1BS was RL12 Aukai and her adopted pup PO3. They were a short distance apart when Marilyn started viewing but later they were closer together. Marilyn did not see PO3 nurse today but still showing interest in Momma Aukai. They both seem to be doing well.
Closer to 2BS was RH76 Kala and her pup PO8 who is a week old today. Initially they were very close to the waterline but later did move up. Marilyn saw the pup nursing on two different occasions. Ultimately they moved higher up the beach. PO8 seems to be doing reasonably well maneuvering the waterfront rocks.
Marilyn also saw at least three of the boats that presumably took part in the Kualoa Beach ceremony as part of FesPAC yesterday. They were sailing by and behind Rabbit Island.

Team R&B were out and about not having much luck.  Then finally they spotted a seal off the jetty area at Nimitz. The seal was foraging and they could see a cc scar on lower back. Then the tell tale was his natural bleach mark on his side and that's when they knew it was Kawika R407.
It took him an hour to finally come in. Unfortunately there were people at his spot near the reef. Thankfully they left the area. That when he left the reef since it was rough and swam over to the other side. He hauled in on a sandy patch to the left.  More people, one with a dog were approaching. Team R&B asked them to respect the seal and let him finish hauling in. Thankfully they were all respectful.
Kawika R407 hauled in, turned over on his side and settled in.

Next stop was at tracks where they found a seal way out. They made the hike out deep in the grass, bushes, not to mention the homeless
camp.
They found a safe spot to view the seal and they realized it was the same seal as yesterday.
Amazingly they figured out it was KG54 in that they could see her gray tags. They did their best to get a good photo.  They were happy to see her but also to be able to finally get her ID.
