Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:18 to 2:40 and there were four seals seen during that time.
Aukai RL12 and her adopted pup PO3 were in the water for the entire time. Marilyn saw them several times in the water. Aukai hauled out at LPB at 2:04 pm, but PO3 didn't follow, so Aukai went back in the water. Makes one wonder if he is so fat that he is uncomfortable being on shore.
Kala RH76 and PO8 appeared to have just hauled out between 1BSand 2BS when Marilyn arrived. They had a nursing session and then a snooze. About 1:30 pm, RH76 entered the water with PO8 following close behind. Marilyn saw them once or twice along the shore during their swim. They hauled out closer to the 2BS at about 2 pm and went into snooze mode.
Because there was not a lot of seal action today, Marilyn spent time watching one of the Masked Booby parents and its chick up on the crater rim. The chick's wings are developing and with its chick down it looks heavier than the parents.
Team R&B spent all day looking, waiting and talking to people but were coming up empty, not finding any seals. Until - They spotted a very green seal on shore at Nimitz. There was no one around except for one sun bather. The seal was alone and was ID'd as the lovely mama RH48 Lei Ola.
Their only other find was at the cliffs where there were two seals. A wave had hit the two seals and that movement caught their attention. The two males were resting, the smaller seal was RP30 Puka and the huge male was RN04 Kainoa.
