June 12, 2024 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:15 to 3:25 pm and seems there were maybe seven seals. Marilyn noted it was a little confusing for her while she was viewing in that she did not knowingly see RL12 and PO3.
A seal hauled out on the rock flats on the Lanikai side of LPB at about 2:06 pm. This seal is labeled as Adult Female 1: adult size, distinctive mottle gray female belly, unsure about tags. This is a seal Marilyn has seen before.
There was a Juvenile Female in the middle of LPB; larger juvenile size, light grayish yellow female
belly and two red tags.
At 1:49 pm an Unknown Adult hauled out briefly between the JF and 1BS, seemed to eye the JF, the reentered the water and was not knowingly seen again.
RH76 Kala and her pup PO8 were in the same tide pool in the middle cliff area where they mostly hid yesterday. Finally later in the afternoon both Kala and pup galumphed out of the pool and were more easily seen. Both mom and pup seem to be doing fine. Kala N77 applied bleach was visible.
At 2:41 pm, Marilyn became aware of a seal mostly hidden behind the rocks on the Makapuu side of the Middle Cliff beach. It may have been there earlier and not seen. This seal being reported as an Unknown Unknown.
Not long after Marilyn started viewing a large (pregnant or nursing) female hauled out between 3BS and SRI. At first Marilyn thought it was RL12 but she did not see PO3. She is labeling this seal as Adult Female 2 because she never saw Aukai's applied N13 bleach. This seal had a sand-covered female belly and two red tags.

Team R&B started their day at the outfall where they spotted RL20 Kalua. He was seen in the outfall
foraging on akule.
Well things were about to get interesting. Team R&B saw a rowboat close to the jetty with a lot of net in it. Suddenly a seal appeared by the boar following it. The seal mouthed the paddle and then to their shock RL20 jumped up and tried to bite the net in the boat.  This is deeply concerning, more because the little buggah is going to get himself into trouble.  Team R&B reported the incident.

After all the excitement they left and headed over to tracks. There they found the lovely KG54. She is molting and seems to be going along quickly as they noted she is about 85% molted. She'll be looking gorgeous in no time.

When they arrived at Nimitz they were happy to see R303 BG on shore with R407 Kawika. They were resting peacefully and initially people were respectful. But people kept coming and R407 began to move around but stayed by BG.

Their last find was at the cliffs. The seal was hidden behind the rocks and despite their studying the seal for a while they had nothing to go on for an ID. So they reported this find as an Unknown Adult.

In between their many stops today they did get to spend a little time watching the dolphins play in a couple different spots.
