Today's dailies are brought to you by Lesley, Team T&D and Team R&B💕. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies. ALSO here is a link to the official DLNR story regarding KG54 long journey. https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/blog/2021/09/27/nr21-170/
Team T&D are still on the Big Island having a great time. They saw six of the known nine seals that reside there. They found three "kids" Manu'iwa RK26, female, RA20's 2018 pup. Kaulana RL50, male, RA20's 2019 pup. They also saw PH1 male Big Island's only 2020 pup.
While Tammy was photographing the three kids, Dave went walking. Soon enough he was signaling to Tammy there was a seal. They came across R408 and their first time they have met her.
Lastly Team T&D came across R8HE who is still molting. But the best part was finding RA20 on the
beach. She is the mother of RL26 and RL50.Back on Oahu Team R&B spent a few hours observing seals at the outfall. There were lots of fishers out today, one of them lucky enough to catch a rainbow runner. One of the seals was Lefty RG28 who went all over the outfall and beyond. They never saw him land all the time they were there. There was another seal and it took them forever to make an ID. Finally they figured out it was RN14 Kalani, he was foraging with RG28 Lefty.
Team R&B went over to Kahe where there are lots of dogs ready to charge. They had a close call with one of them. They made it pass and went over to the rocks and found Kaale RH32.
At another west side location they were happy to find RL70 on the rocks. She was snoozing and putting her head in the water. She is looking to be in good condition, nice and plump. They noticed she has a scar under her chin.
Checking out the bay they were delighted to find RL20 snoozing on the rocks in peace. There was no one around to bug him while they were there. Man this kid is green, it will be nice to see him molt. To add to their happiness they viewed a pod of dolphins passing by.
