09/18/2021 (part 2) Saturday Lesley's Ka'ena Update

It was a beautiful and fairly busy day in the park.

This morning Diane and I got to document 4 seals while monitoring.

R407 Kawika joined RL98 Lina and were sleeping side by side. On our second check she was alone and had knocked the new sign down, so I picked it up.

RL74 Kami was sleeping on some reefs. On our second check she had moved to higher grounds. She still has the hook on the left side of her mouth.

Same with RO40 Ka'ena we saw him being washed by waves of incoming tide till he got washed away. We saw him swimming back and forth looking for other seals or for another place to haul out.
