08/09/2021 Monday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Tammy, Melody and Team R&B💕.

Tammy hiked Ka'ena Point solo today. She first found Luana RN58, newly molted. She was easy to spot like a bright shining light.  Next was Ka'ena RO40 in one of his favorite haul out spots. He is looking good for an older dude.  Then there was RW02 PvKauai blocking the entry so no other seals could haul out. Smart buggah!  Lastly Tammy found RL98 Lina at the end of her hike.  As a side note she saw her first Kolea at the point.

Team R&B started at the bay and there was the little green seal RL20 Kalua stealing fish at the jetty. Also on the rocks was Nalu R3CX enjoying a snooze.   On a recheck later in the day Nalu was gone.

At another west side location they found good ole Benny RE74 on the rocks along with RH76 Kala. At seal inlet was RG28 Lefty snoozing alone.  Then suddenly RN14 Kalani hauled up on left upper rocks. A regular seal party.

From a distance they saw a seal on shore and headed over to the site to find the lovely RL12 Aukai on shore alone. Team R&B had left the site but kept their eye on the shoreline from afar.  They saw that some fishermen had arrived and were really close to Aukai, not to mention a family that arrived and settled on the other side of her.  They called the hotline to report.

Team R&B headed over to another location and when they got to the area they spotted a green seal hauling up on the rocks. It was RL42 Leia, her tags were visible and cookie scar on side. Team R&B left the site because there were people coming to the area.

Team R&B went back to check on Benny and the gang. There was RL70 Leina hauling up on rocks. Leina spots RH76 Kala and RN14 Kalani in the playboy pond. There was no interaction. Lefty RG28 was in a water hole to the right. Now there was another seal hauling in by RL70 and its Kaale RH32. He sees RN14 and RH76 in the pond, turned to go around to seal inlet to the right and settled in there. And unfortunately Benny was gone missing out.

Melody went to Waikiki to look for Kaiwi RK96. Sure enough she was there and almost finished with her molt. Other than a couple of lose pieces on her face and hind flipper she is looking quite beautiful and clean.  Kaiwi was close to the water's edge when Melody arrived late morning. She stayed for about an hour then galumphed into the water getting half her body in the water. Just when it looked like she was going to leave she turned around went back up on the sand and took a nap.
