Today's dailies are brought to you by Lesley, Marilyn and Team R&B💕. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.
Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island today from 11 am to 1 pm and there were a total of three seals today. Initially at the 3BS she saw and unknown adult male A/M which spent some time at the 3BS. Marilyn realized just after 11:30 he had left the 3BS and about 10 minutes later hauled out at LPB. Marilyn is reasonably sure this is the same seal she labeled as AM#1 from yesterday. Older brown coat, yellowish brown male belly and a fair amount of green near the rear flippers and two tags. The AM has a CC scar on his right rear side which was not reported yesterday.
On the 3BS side of LPB was an UU, sub adult size, new coat, light belly, unknown gender and two tags.
At 12:43 Marilyn became aware of a seal hauling out at SRI. This proved to be weaner P04 Manana, weaner size and shape, no nbs on front flippers and a tag on RRF.Team R&B started their morning with two seals at the bay. Both seals were stealing fish, one was positively ID'd as RH32 Kaale. The other seal wasn't so cooperative, and stayed farther out. At one point they saw a kid who was fishing dangling live bait on a hook so the seal would go for it. This kid needs some talking to, and respect for the wildlife.
At another west side location they spotted a plump seal that was greenish resting on the lower rocks alone. They got a look at the tag and a scar on the left shoulder with the small bleach on left side of face. Bingo its R3CX Nalu. He was not there on their afternoon check.
On their next stop they were happy to find RN14 Kalani on the rocks. There were waves washing him about which he didn't mind. He looks good, nice and plump and healthy.
Team R&B and junior sealette decided to walk out to Ka'ena West, unfortunately there were no seals. When they returned they decided to recheck a few spots. As mentioned Nalu was gone but on the water front rocks were two seals. Lefty RG28 was laying next to RL70 Leina. With the rising tide was getting to them, who knows how long they would stay.
