Today's dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕.
Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 10:50 to 12:25 pm, there were two seal on island today. When she first arrived there was a seal with its belly up on the waterfront rocks about 25 ft from the 3BS. This seal was ID'd as JF: juvenile size, two tags, light female belly and a new coat. She moved off the waterfront rocks up the beach where she stay for a while. About 11:50 she entered the water and showed up later at LPB.
At 11:15 Marilyn noticed a seal hauling out at LPB. The seal looked around for other seal but then
settled in for a snooze. This seal is being reported as an UU, juvenile to subadult size, older coat and two tags. Marilyn never saw it's belly so sex is unknown. At about noon she noticed the JF was hauling out to join the UU.Team R&B started their morning at the bay where there were already lots of fishermen and a seal swimming in the schools of fish. RL20 Kalua mostly hung out at the jetty. Late afternoon on their recheck RL20 was still foraging.
At another west side location they found RH76 Kala on lower rocks. She later would move down to the shallows to cool off. to the right on waterfront rocks was Kaale RH32 snoozing alone. On a later check Kaale was pestering Kala and chased her inland up in the rocks, where they finally settled down.
Team R&B checked spotted three seal on shore at tracks. Kalani RN14 keeping watch over RL12 Aukai. RG28 Lefty was to the left, looking for his opportunity to get to Aukai. But Kalani stood his ground in keeping Aukai to himself. There was some interaction between the boys, Kalani charged Lefty and chased him into the water where they fought. Suddenly there was another seal it was RW22 Kolohe. He hung back watching the two fight and then swam away. Kalani ended up winning and Lefty swam off.
On their way to Ka'ena west they found RL42 Leia snoozing peacefully. To her right was RM31 Kai snoozing in his own space. Unfortunately Team R&B did not see any seals out at Ka'ena west. As they were hiking out they did see a seal on shore at yoks. They went to check and found R3CX Nalu.
When Team R&B did their recheck on Kaale and Kala they spotted a seal mint green color on the upper rocks. They were able to ID RL70 Leina, who had a cut on the left side of her neck. She seems fine, no stress or discomfort visible.
Lefty RG28 was seen to the right water hole snoozing. If he hadn't sneezed they might have missed him. Guess he ended up here after going at it with RN14 Kalani.
