07/17/2020 Friday Act-With-Care Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Lesley and Melody.  Lesley's very busy Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

Melody went back to Waikiki to check on Kaiwi and she's pretty much completed her molt with a few scraggly pieces. Melody got there early and Kaiwi was still hanging out on the waters edge and a bit antsy rolling around in the sand. She stayed for a while and them moved up to the cement wall using the palm tree trunk as her scratching post.  Late morning she headed back to the water and finally headed out.

Team Billand was out at 6:30 am and found RG28 Lefty who had just arrived on lower rocks. R3CX Nalu was further to the right on water front rocks alone.

Later on RF28 came into the area with Lefty, they fought for space. Not a nasty fight but just a lot of posturing for territory.

Then they spotted a U/U foraging off shore doing 6 minute dives. Two red tags, an adult is about all they could see.

At 8 am Team Billand found Ka'ale RH32 at the ourfall doing his thing, foraging and stealing. Most the the fisherman know him and are okay, but there are couple that aren't so thrilled with him. At one point he actually chased a fish on a line landing up on the rocks and took the fish. The fisherman was shocked.

Just before 10 am Team Billand saw Lei Ola RH48 on the rocks. They noticed something on her back, and unfortunately it was a small hook, with a 3 inch line. She was fine and had no reaction to the hook. They called the hotline to report.
Team Billand also noticed a new cookie bite on the left side of her face. She seems fine other than that, all normal behavior and looking good with her new coat.

Lastly Team Billand went back to check on the boys since they had been fighting earlier. Well they were still being crazy and fighting in the shallows, chasing each other, leaving and then returning.
