07/12/2020 Sunday Act-With-Care Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Lesley, Melody and Marilyn. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

In yesterday news Melody visited with Kaiwi RK96. She has started her molt and looking good. A large patch from her chest is clean and different spots over her body. Melody spent a couple of couple of hours since the beach was packed with people and a couple of dogs. There were a couple of people with their dogs that got  a little too close for comfort but as soon as they realized the monk seal was there, they moved. There was another dog that was barking a lot, the good news none of this seem to bother Kaiwi. Eventually Kaiwi moved up the beach and settled in her deep wallow and went to sleep.  Melody met some good people ( kudos to Lisa and Wayne) who offered to keep an eye on her.

Team Billand was up and at em by 7 am. Their first visit brought them two seal snoozing on the rocks. Nalu R3CX and RF28 were to the right of water front rocks.
When they went back to check they were both there on the rocks.
Third visit there were fishermen and a couple of dudes playing with a big remote control trucks,  Team Billand now sees there is a third seal. RL20 Kalua. He still has his hook and a little bit of line attached.
Nalu R3CX seemed agitated, he was in the water hole looking at RL20. He finally galumphed up to RL20 who wasn't thrilled to see him. Nalu left the kid alone and went back to the water hole and then out to the rocks.
RF28 was vocalizing alot, with his mouth wide open. Guess he was speaking his mind.

Team Billand found Ka'ale RH32 at the outfall just before 9 am.
There he was being thief and stealing the fish. He was foraging doing 5 minute dives. Team Billand stayed to watch him for a couple of hours, thinking he might haul out, but he didn't so they left.

Just after 2 pm Team Billand was searching along the west side coast and came upon two seals on shore by Makua Beach.  There were people by the seals, Team Billand watched but was unable to get closer. They could not get a positive ID from the distance so they were reported as U/U.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island and had another seven seal day. Very likely all the same players as yesterday with the exception PO1 Kahukai was not seen.

Mom and PO5 were on Left Point Beach. She observed at least two feeds, and there was no water time today. PO5 is growing and belly is getting lighter. Still no determination of gender.
UJF was about 60 feet from 3BS like yesterday. Appears to be about 2-3 years old based on size, light female belly with a little bit of green and two tags.

PO3 Momona was on the rocks flats up for SRI. Weaner size and color, male belly, no tags.

Two unknown males were on the Makapuu side of Rocky Right Beach. The more brown colored HMS is the one of the seals from yesterday. After a while he departed.
Likely the other UM is RG32 but Marilyn never saw the applied bleach. But he did show his dark mottled male belly.
