01/21/2022 Friday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:45 to 1 pm and there were two seals on island today.
At first there was only one seal about 30 feet Makapuu side of the 3BS.  Subadult to adult size, female belly and Marilyn believes two gray tags. There was word KG54 was in the area so this could be her. The long-distance swimmer from Kure Atoll. Shortly after Marilyn started viewing her, she moved down the beach and was mostly hidden behind the waterfront rocks for the rest of the time.
About 11:51 am Marilyn became aware of a seal hauling out at LPB. Subadult size, two tags and a scar on the right side about 1/3 forward of the rear flippers. Marilyn is betting a cat this is RK24 based on size and scar. When he hauled out, he galumphed up to see if any critters were up on the berm. When he did not see any others he moved laterally and ended up almost directly down from the 1BS.

Team R&B started at a west side location and spotted two seals, one small and the other big. One was
Surprisingly the little critter was RL20 Kalua. It was surprising since he usually isn't at this location. The other seal was Uncle RK72 Kekoa Alii, sweet seeing the two of them.

Team R&B rushed to the next site and found people watching two seals on shore. One was close to the Naupaka was a little agitated, as there was a man standing there filming him. The seal was RN14 Kalani.
Another seal R407 Kawika cautiously hauled in but went up to RN14. They sniffed each other, looked at the guy, then both went into the water heading west.
Team R&B took off heading west with hopes of catching them hauling out at another beach. They waited and while watching whales, they saw the two seals. R407 came in first followed by RN14. They hauled up on the rocks.
From afar they could see a seal on shore at another location. They went over and found R3CX Nalu on shore. He was snoozing and was situated right in front of an encampment.

Team R&B went back to revisit one of the sites. They were treated to watching a calf breaching. And to make it even better there was RP84 hiding in the rocks once again. Maybe one day he'll come out and let them get a better look at him. But for now hiding is keeping him safe.

Running off to another beach they found RH32 Kaale. He was alone and there were signs up. They
stayed for a bit to educate the folks that came by. Posse pal Amy came by to take over for them.

Once again returning to west side location there was another seal. The latest arrival was RW02 PvKauai near seal inlet.

Last check of the day they found another seal snoozing in the rocks. With the suns glare and salt spray they could not make and ID or get a good enough photo. Seal looked about 2 years old and they didn't see any tags. It was reported as an Unknown U/U.

Team T&D stopped by and visited with Team R&B. We ALL want to wish Tammy a very Happy Birthday!!!  We all appreciate her dedication, big heart and cookies we love her cookies!!!
