Marilyn took advantage of the break in the weather and headed over to the pier. When she started viewing Rabbit Island at 1:15 and there were no seals. Then at 2:14 she saw a seal hauling out from an inlet on LPB.
The seal was an unknown juvenile U/J: large juvenile size, newish coat, no tags that could be seen. Marilyn never got a look at its ventral size so is reported as an unknown. The U/J seemed to be looking around for other seals.
Marilyn thinks the other seals got tired of hanging around on Rabbit Island in the rain and decided to go off to forage and a swim.
During a break in the weather on the mauka side of the building, she saw a ray, probably an eagle ray swimming underwater in the harbor.
Team R&B got a call from a friend late in the day. They had been on the west side checking for seals with no luck. So they hurried over to find three seals on shore with only two signs up. A visitor was close to the seal posing for her husband. Team R&B got them to back up and they spent time educating the folks that were standing around. They called the hotline to inform them of RG28 Lefty, RL12 Aukai, and R407 Kawika were on the beach and there was a wedding scheduled.
Checking different sites they found a seal hidden in the rocks near a homeless camp. They made a quick check to find RL20 resting on the rocks. They did not stay for very long.
It was just before sundown they were at another west side location. Lighting wasn't that great but they took a couple of quick pictures of RH76 Kala on the rocks. They didn't want to stay at the site once it got dark.
