01/19/2022 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Melody and Team R&B💕.   I did get an email from Marilyn that there were no seals on Rabbit Island today.

Team R&B was out in the morning and didn't find any seals. They kept trying and searching, finally off shore they spotted a little seal. There was the little Kaulapapa Seal RP84 foraging doing 6 minute dives. The waves kept getting bigger and bigger, he looked like a leaf in the surf, but he kept foraging. They left the area took care of some errands and returned to find RP84 had landed on the rocks. He was galumphing way in, making it difficult to see him. Tough bugga this kid. He managed to fight the surf and then hide himself after pigging out. Team R&B had to move around to get a decent photo, finally his little natural bleach spot on ride side was visible.

Over to the bay they spotted a seal snoozing on the warm rocks. There was Nalu R3CX resting comfortably. His applied bleach and tags were visible. (yea for applies bleaches)
And then on the other side they saw the chubby RL20 on the rocks. The kid was alone and snoozing  probably after filling his belly. Team R&B were happy to see him after all the floods and dirty water.

Melody was out this morning to check out the west side beaches that have been pretty busy as of late. She got to the location at 10:30 and a seal had just hauled out about 5 minutes before. She notified Team R&B and they helped her nail down its ID, none other than RH32 Kaale. There were signs already up.  Already people were gathering asking questions, some that had seen him haul out. Once Melody settled in she was able to talk with folks and give them some monk seal 101.
There was so much going on between visitors and a movie being filmed next door. There were constant flow of people throughout the day. The surf was hitting the beach and every once in a while Kaale a wave would wash over him. He would disappear for a minute, and didn't seem to mind.
At mid afternoon the surf was so high and hit the rocks so hard it sounded like thunder. It washed over Kaale so much that he finally decided to head out. As he was leaving Melody could see his hind flippers come up over the water as he was foraging for food.
Melody stayed around for a while and finally took the signs down at 3:30. Posse pal Amy checked at 5:00 and there were still no seals.
