01/26/2022 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:05 to 1:25 and there were only two seals during her observations.
Near SRI was an U/A - adult size, newer coat (before it rolled in the sand), unsure about gender or tags. The seal moved into SRI soon after she started viewing, so there was no further information.
Marilyn initially did not see the seal out on the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB, but about five minutes into viewing she noticed a seal there. Marilyn believes this to be N2 by the partial applied bleach seen on the dorsal surface. The seal was juvenile size, but could not determine its gender.

Oh the things you see! Team R&B was at tracks when they saw a small silver car that had been joy
riding on the sand. The car was stuck, the owner tried pushing and lifting to no avail. Cops arrived, tow truck arrived hooked it to a cable. The cable kept breaking, and the tow truck was in danger of getting stuck. They tried shoveling but the waves kept hitting the car and covering the holes. It took four hours and a second tow truck to get the car out.  The owner was cited.  I would love to know how much this joy ride cost, between the tow trucks and the citation.
After such an exciting start, they did check for seals and noticed after a couple of hours a seal hauled out. There was RH32 Kaale and some of the posse had put out some signs with sticks to keep the people away. Turns out DLNR was in the area.

Team R&B found their new favorite kid at another west side location. Pe'ekai RP84 was on lower rocks.  Also RW02 PvKauai was also on lower rocks but moved himself over to playboy pond, to the right of Pe'ekai.
Leina RL70 was also on the rocks.
A seal hauled out to the right. They ID'd R3CU and determined he was the U/U they saw yesterday with the big cookie scar on his back.

Lastly they took a drive further west and didn't see any seal, until that one last stop.  (of course).
There on shore was R3CX Nalu alone and snoozing. They were surprised to see him. He might have been there all day as there wallows high up on shore.
